The idea for CAMiLEON Heels came from a New York City taxicab one sunny day in 1989. The process took more than a decade.

Lauren Handel joined her brother in 2004 to help further develop the technology and incorporate footwear designs that would enable stable and durable adjustable-height capabilities in women’s high heel footwear. The Handels engaged the services of a professional industrial design team to help them perfect their now patent-pending technology. The result of this prolonged research and testing led David and Lauren to CAMiLEON Heels – the first fully-functioning, adjustable-height high heel shoe for women.
